v
Those eyes of Irfan filled with
moist, salty and pain, the story of a picture
v There is
always a distraction in the photographer. Distraction that they can show you
some different pictures out of the box and fill the lake of your consciousness
with clamor, waves, uproar. This distraction and an actor like Irfan. I was
expecting something memorable.

irfankhan actor

v Irrfan
had an amazing energy and aggressiveness in acting. There was a sharpness,
sharpening. He brought every character to life on screen. So natural It used to
be that this actor who is dominating the world, someone around him, is one of
us.
v There is
a glow in his pictures. Face speaking with closed lips and peeping eyes inside
you. If you are a photographer, If they are shooting them and do not capture
their big, energy-rich eyes in their camera, then it is like the sun is not in
the picture in a wonderful sunset.

v I could
not move beyond his eyes. I first photographed him 10 years ago. He had a great
synergy with the lens of the camera and I captured many pictures of Irfan's
eyes in the camera.
v But
after watching many of his great films, I wanted to capture an actor on camera,
He wanted to capture his acting, not just staring his big eyes into the camera.
As time went by, this worm kept going in my mind. I was looking for the next
opportunity. And finally that chance came.
v It was
the year 2016. There were dark clouds of fundamentalism on the country. Then we
saw the worst mob lynching of our time. Cow-guards had created panic among the
people. Many big writers and scholars had returned their awards in protest
against the government's silence and growing intolerance on these incidents.
v India
Today magazine was about to bring its Independence Day special in which people
from different parts of the country were supposed to share their thoughts about
what they understand the meaning of freedom. I had to take a cover photo for
that special issue. I wanted to draw a picture that could show the pain of
people, make them feel their pain.
v Irfan
was also a writer of this special issue. He questioned the sacrificial practice
of animals in Islam and he was under attack for this idea. I had to take a
photo of him too. Meanwhile, he was in the studio of our office to promote a film.
v The idea
was first to take a picture with his eyes closed but it was very easy and I had
taken such pictures of many people before. There was a buzz of words in my
mind. From the churning of swirling words, one word emerged - 'Cry Freedom'
This was an 80s film whose poster, which was buried in my mind, suddenly
emerged and clung to the wall of thoughts.
v I told
myself how it would be if this picture had tears in its eyes! Wouldn't that be
a strong comment on that issue? Irfan has tears in his eyes .... This picture
of him will make people look and it will not only reflect his face but also his
acting. Through this picture people will be able to feel them very close.....
